Looking for a bonus cardio workout during your day? Like to shovel snow? Have a passion for helping someone who will really appreciate you? Also a great way to add community service to your college resume!
We are looking to connect with students who would like to shovel snow / use a snowblower (at some properties) for seniors in La Crescent unable to complete this task on their own. You would need to have your own reliable transportation to get to La Crescent, but we'll provide the shovel, salt, snowblower (depending on the property)! Of course this is all weather dependent, but we're looking for students who are able to make a commitment for the season to do the snow removal each time there's a measurable snowfall. We would like you to commit to having the shoveling done within 24 hours of the snow event.
Want to do this with a group of friends? Great! You could rotate amongst your group, or you come together and get the shoveling done more quickly. Whatever works for you!
We will have you fill out a volunteer application, run a basic background check, and if all is good, we'll make the introduction to the senior you'll be assisting. You won't go into the senior's home, you won't need to wait for them to be home to do the shoveling, and you can work it conveniently into your own schedule as long as you get to it in a timely manner after a snowfall.
