I am happy to share we have found a way of bringing the series to a virtual-friendly format. Join us on Tuesday, November 10th at 4 PM via Zoom.
The film series aims to provide community conversations with the purpose of covering important community issues. Following the film, participants debrief and engage in discussions and reflections as we challenge all to think about ways, we—together—can make change in our community.
One of Western’s finest and a Creating a Healthier Multicultural Community La Crosse facilitator (CHMC), Dillon Mader, will join us in facilitating conversations about cultural awareness and knowledge. The program is designed to widen the awareness, understanding, respect, and empathy for the lived realities of people with a wide range of racial, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
Our upcoming short films, The Cyclist and the TedxHabana highlight Cuban folks as they face hardships within their country -- including lack of freedom of speech and the U.S./Cuba relationship. Despite the obstacles Cubans face, their pride and joy are expressed constantly.
While the short film is about Cuba and the countries and people's experiences, much can be learned and talked about that is also applicable to understanding other social issues.
