Who We Are

Beginning in 1997, the mission of the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of La Crosse County is to provide older adults and people with physical or developmental/intellectual disabilities the resources needed to live with dignity and security, and achieve maximum independence and quality of life. La Crosse County's nutrition program has been in existence for more than 40 years, however, with the passing of the Older Americans Act. The purpose of this particular program is to reduce hunger and food insecurity and promote socialization, health and well-being of older individuals.

How Volunteers Help

The Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of La Crosse County is the first place to go to get accurate, unbiased information on all aspects of life related to aging or living with a disability. The ADRC provides information on broad range of programs and services, helps people understand the various long term care options available to them, helps people apply for programs and benefits, and serves as the access point for publicly-funded long term care. These services can be provided at the ADRC, via telephone, or through a home visit, whichever is more convenient to the individual seeking help. Additionally, the ADRC administers a nutrition program and specialized transportation service. The nutrition program consists of senior dining (congregate) meals; home-delivered meals; nutrition screening, education, counseling and other nutrition-related supportive activities. The specialized transportation service provides seniors or individuals with disabilities general or special service on a regular and continuing basis.
