Looking for reliable volunteers who would like to assist with activities during the day with older adults. Recreation Therapy has programming Mon-Fri 9am-5pm and Sat-Sun 2pm-4:30pm. We are looking for volunteers to assist with activities during any of those times and are flexible to fit your schedule. Volunteers will have the opportunity to assist in activities such as table games, reading groups, musical programming, exercise groups, painting nails, and much more! We also always need assistance with sanitizing supplies/materials or prepping activities in the Recreation Therapy office.

We require all volunteers to do a short orientation, have a recent TB test(can be done at our facility), and a background check.  Since we require these things to be done, we prefer our volunteers to at least have a time commitment of around 3 months or equivalent in the frequency of your hours to make it worth your time and ours.  Come have fun with older adults! Every day is a new adventure! :)

Looking for reliable volunteers on the weekends who like working with older adults and can assist Recreation Therapy staff with programming/activities on the weekends or provide an activity on their own once trained.

When: Rec Therapy staff has programming every weekend on Sat from 2pm-4:30pm.  Volunteers are also welcome to come do activities independently once oriented at a time that works for them.

What will you be doing: Assist in activities such as table games, reading groups, crafts, musical programming, and much more!  Have any hobbies or interests you want to share with our residents? We are open to ideas!

Looking for reliable volunteers on the weekends at Mulder Health Care Facility who like working with older adults.

Volunteers will be coming independently (without rec therapy staff there to lead) once comfortable after a short orientation and can do 1 on 1 visits or small group activities appropriate for our residents. Keep in mind, many of our residents have dementia or Alzheimer's so games usually have to be simple or modified.  Examples of things to do with our residents:  visiting, crafts, being read to, puzzles/crosswords, reminisce, anything musical, etc. Recreation Therapy can also set you up with materials if needed.

When: any time throughout the weekend. For our residents, typically the best time is in between meals in the late morning (between 9:30-11:30), afternoons, or early evening.

Music is one of the last parts of your brain to leave your memory as you age...this is why our elderly population truly enjoy listening to music. 

Mulder Health Care Facility is looking for volunteers to express their beautiful musical talents for our residents.  Our residents love to listen to music of "the good old days" or even simply listen to piano. If you need help with music selection, we can assist you with song selection as well.

We also always need assistance with sanitizing supplies/materials or prepping activities in the Recreation Therapy office if interested.
