Coulee Region RSVP is always looking for Volunteer Drivers.  Do you enjoy driving, meeting new people?

Volunteer Drivers age 55 and better use their own vehicles to transport individuals to medical and personal appointments.   Monday through Friday from 7:30 am- 5:00 pm.  You choose the days and times you would like to volunteer.  

Volunteer drivers receive mileage reimbursement at the IRS rate of 72.5 cents per mile.  You can volunteer on a daily, weekly or on-call basis.

The Thrift Store serves a dual role in our mission.  People in need can get vouchers to get the items that they need, whether it be clothes, shoes or items to help set up their new home.  When items sell to the public, that money goes back into our mission to feed and shelter individuals in need. 

Many hands make light work.  We get loads of donations in every single day at The Salvation Army Thrift Store.  We need lots of help to get through them and make them ready for the sales floor. Help sort and organize, clear out and reshelve items, clean, and hang out with a great staff team! Opportunities are flexible during these times, Monday–Friday, 9am-6pm or Saturday, 9am-5pm.

 You can choose your volunteer dates and times! After an approved application, you can volunteer whenever you'd like, no scheduling needed. Thanks for your help!

Interested in MAKING A SENIOR'S DAY? Want to make a big difference? Become a companionship volunteer!

As a companionship volunteer you will be matched one-on-one with a senior in La Crescent to serve as a friendly visitor. Companionship visits include conversation, going on walks, doing puzzles, playing games, or simply spending time together. This volunteer experience is flexible based on your availability and can be scheduled weekly, bi-weekly, or sporadically. Often, time spent with a companionship volunteer is the highlight of an individual's day!

Being a companionship volunteer is a great opportunity to get quality volunteer experience, engage with others, and provide much-needed connection for our older community members! Consider joining us today.

Volunteer needed to assist with receiving deliveries, offloading vehicles, weighing in product, sorting and storing donations, taking out recycling. This is a moderately physical position. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays are the days when more help is needed.

You'd be starting your morning shift at 10am helping us sort through our breads donation as well as washing any bins that may need to be washed. There may also be some quality checking of produce as well. Shift would end at noon.

On-Call volunteers would be periodically for when our regular volunteers during that shift will be gone.

Our drivers are essential to the day-to-day operations of The Hunger Task Force. Every day, we have drivers go to different businesses to pick up food from generous donors and bring it back to the warehouse.

Hillview Life Center will offer a second YWCA La Crosse childcare site,  providing opportunities for intergenerational collaborative programming. We seek volunteers to help with the Adult Programming and for assistance in the childcare setting. Mayo Clinic Health System is looking for a volunteer to Dispatch our DART (Dependable And Resourceful Transport) volunteers.  Working in an office setting, the Dispatcher will answer phone requests and use Epic Transport Manager software to arrange patient and item transport/escort in the hospital and clinic.

You would assist with other fundraisers, have potential to create your own, and help run the ones you get involved with. There will always be multiple people involved in each fundraiser. The meetings are one hour/month plus any additional meetings for current fundraisers.

Our Lobby Host volunteers greet all patients, visitors and coworkers in a positive and professional manner.  They assist patients with directions and general questions, and provide wheelchair transports and escorts throughout our clinic.  Lobby Hosts are needed at our clinics in La Crosse and Onalaska. Deliver more than just a warm meal! The Aging & Disability Resource Center of La Crosse County is looking for volunteers to deliver meals to seniors. Shifts/routes are currently available at our County building (4th & Vine) and the Southside Neighborhood Center (6th & Hood St). Each route takes approximately 30minutes to 1 hr to deliver; roughly 10:15am to 11:30am and average 10 miles (mileage reimbursement available).

Board Member Responsibilities

Do you love to garden? Aptiv is seeking volunteers to assist in planting, weeding and harvesting for the area Community Garden at Aptiv. HorseSense is looking for volunteers to assist in our adaptive horseback riding lessons this spring, summer, and fall! No experience is required but volunteers must be able to walk and be on their feet for extended periods of time and be okay walking in sand.  Volunteers provide direct support to our riders, many if whom have a diagnosis of some kind and often require physical support.  Lessons are Monday-Thursday at 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, and 6pm each evening. We do ask volunteers to commit to the same day/time(s) for a full session to ensure consistency for our riders.  Occasional absences are to be expected.  The 2025 session dates are as follows:

Spring: March 10th-May 16th 

Summer: June 2nd - August 22nd

Fall: September 8th - November 17th

The Aging & Disability Resource Center is looking for volunteers at our La Crosse meal sites to help package meals, serve meals and also deliver noon meals to elderly in our community. Routes needed are North La Crosse, French Island and southside of La Crosse. 

Delivery shifts range from 10:15am-12pm and routes average 10 miles. (usually take around 1 hour) By becoming a volunteer of our home delivered meal program you deliver more than just a hot meal. It is also a welfare check on our seniors. 

We have a variety of days and locations available in La Crosse. Flexible schedule and mileage reimbursement available. 

If you prefer not to deliver meals, we are also in need of volunteers to help package the meals for our homebound participants at the meal sites. 

Currently we are in need at Holmen meal sites.  Shift range from 10am until 12:30pm for onsite help and 11am-11:45am for delivering the meals.   

We are looking for volunteers to assist our Recreation Therapy Department with afternoon programs on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the month. Volunteers are not required to do every afternoon program that is scheduled but can choose which dates work best for them. These programs take place from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm for both the Saturday and Sunday availabilities. Dates throughout the month do very and do not take place every Saturday and Sunday. Everybody Bikes UA is seeking volunteers who are willing to help refurbish donated bikes that are awarded to community-members after a brief training. We can work around your schedule.

We're also open to volunteers willing to assist with our bike maintenance and training programs that occur on Friday mornings at the Library. You don’t have to be mechanically inclined or familiar with bicycle repair to help!

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION:

Gain hands-on experience in promoting health to students and parents in the community by helping coordinate and assist school garden education sessions and recipe demonstrations at local elementary schools. We are looking for 3-4 interns for this upcoming semester. Together with the GROW board, other interns, and volunteers you will lead an essential role in providing community nutrition education, along with assisting our program directors in garden education sessions and recipe demonstration, interns will also enhance their experiences when coordinating volunteers, overseeing garden maintenance, building relationships, evaluating programs, documenting, and community organizing.

TIME COMMITMENT:

Approximately 6-8 hrs/wk totaling a minimum of 90 hours for the semester. Some interns have taken this as an independent study and received credit. Nutrition programming and meetings can be planned around intern’s schedule as long as 5 hours a week are during elementary school hours (8am-3pm). Other requirements can be done throughout each week as you have time.

REQUIREMENTS:

Nutrition/Sustainability Education Interns will be responsible for assisting the program directors with garden classes, helping facilitate garden maintenance tasks and organization of produce getting from garden to cafeteria or classroom, and assisting with volunteer coordination; in addition to weekly meetings with your supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

We are looking for someone who can work independently and as part of a team, is comfortable working with children, has experience coordinating and working with volunteers, and the ability to get from their house to each school - the furthest one is 3.5 miles from UWL campus.
